so there I was

You don't have to be a pedlar to tell us about pedlars that you've seen, what were they selling? Where? Were they doing ok?
Did you kiss them? It's national 'Kiss a pedlar' year of 2018!
<-- Don't kiss him though, yuk!

so there I was

Stand accused of not 'acting like a pedlar'

The witness was a town official who took the stand

'He stood in one place for more than fifteen minutes your worships! clearly not acting as a pedlar!'

I was allowed to take the stand.

Your worships, I am a pedlar.

I have a pedlars certificate

Showing me to be of sound character

protected by the law

I accuse this person of treason!

having tried to make laws that do not exist!
giffgaff seem to be paying 'me' for using 'them' at the moment! Can't get much cheaper than that!

Ha ha good luck with that one Sir Ian , authority tend to circle the wagons if one of their number is threatened . On a serious note I've always found magistrates to reasonable folk , they are by and large business men and women from the local community , the one you have to watch is the clerk to the Magistrates , its his job to advise them on 'legal' matters .
